Welcome Class 3
On March 30th, 2026, Class 3 of the North Metro Police Academy will start their law enforcement journey, a significant milestone for them. The Thornton Police Department continues to develop the next generation of law enforcement professionals. This dedicated group of recruits will embark on a transformative journey to acquire the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to serve and protect our community with integrity and excellence.
Academy Staff
Over 22 weeks, the NMPA Academy Instructors in the Training Unit and members of the Thornton Police Department turned theory into practice, and successfully graduated twelve recruits.
The North Metro Police Academy would not have been possible without the dedication of the Thornton Police Training Unit and members of the Thornton Police Department. Their expertise, dedication, and commitment to excellence played a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring we build a proud and lasting legacy for this Department and this Academy.

On March 5th, 2025, twelve recruits became officers and were sworn into service with the Thornton and Broomfield Police Departments. This exceptional group of recruits has demonstrated unwavering commitment, resilience, and integrity throughout their training. As they step into their roles as peace officers, they carry with them the values and standards that define the North Metro Police Academy and the Thornton Police Department.
