Emergency Communication Center 

Our Emergency Communication Center processes more than 250,000 emergent and non-emergent calls for the City of Thornton every year. The Emergency Communications Team interacts with citizens on their worst day, hour, and moment, while directing and keeping first responders safe.

Police Records

Our Police Records Team is responsible for managing, maintaining, and organizing various records and documents related to law enforcement activities. Their role is critical for ensuring that police records are properly documented, stored and accessible when needed.

Animal Control 

Our Animal Control Team is responsible for managing and enforcing laws related to animal control, safety, and welfare within the community. Their duties range from rescuing injured or lost animals to educating the public about responsible pet ownership.

Victim Advocates

Our Victim Advocate Team provides support, guidance, and assistance to individuals who have been affected by crime. Their primary role is to ensure that victims of crime receive the necessary support and resources to navigate the emotional, legal, and practical challenges a victim may face. The team consists of both volunteers and full-time staff.

Co-Responders

Our Co-Responder Team works alongside Police Officers to provide a more comprehensive approach when responding to calls for service where a person is in crisis. Their role includes crisis management/prevention, de-escalation, advocacy, connecting individuals with services or programs, and more.

Criminalist 

Our Criminalist Team, or CSI, are responsible for collecting, preserving, and analyzing physical evidence from crime scenes to support investigations. Their work is crucial in solving crimes by providing objective evidence that can be used in court.

Our Property and Evidence Technicians are responsible for the receipt, documentation, storage, and safeguarding of all property and evidence. This role requires a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and organizational skills to ensure proper chain of custody and compliance with laws and departmental policies.

Administrative Specialist

The Administrative Specialists provide comprehensive administrative and office support, including greeting visitors, answering phones, handling correspondence, data entry, filing, and maintaining records. Our specialists research and analyze information, prepare reports and statistics, process invoices, payments, payroll, and budget materials, and assist with meetings and events.
