The Thornton Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred shortly before 1:45 a.m. on July 5 in the 3600 block of East 91st Avenue.
Officers were dispatched to the area after a caller reported that someone had been shot and the suspect had left the scene. Upon arrival, officers found a party taking place at the residence. A 44-year-old man was located outside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately began rendering aid until medical personnel arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the Adams County Coroner's Office and notification of next of kin.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and to gather suspect information.
